A tragic incident occurred in Ternopil, on Vynnychenka Street, where an explosion in a residential building led to the deaths of two people.

This information was provided by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Ternopil region.

“On July 25 around 12 PM, a report was received on the emergency hotline 102 from the dispatcher of the State Emergency Service regarding an explosion on Volodymyr Vynnychenko Street,” the statement said.

The explosion occurred on the third floor of one of the buildings. During the inspection of the apartment, police found the bodies of two individuals – a man and a woman.

Preliminary information suggests that the deceased were a son born in 1985 and his mother born in 1958.

Initial findings indicate that a F-1 hand grenade detonated in the apartment.

Law enforcement and other relevant services are working at the scene.
