The police have arrested a man who attempted to kill a rival due to jealousy over his wife. The couple had not been living together for a long time but were not officially divorced. Unexpectedly seeing his wife with another man, the husband, in despair, stabbed the victim in the chest. He faces up to 15 years in prison for his actions.

The Kyiv police received a report about a man with a stab wound sitting on the street near one of the buildings on Danila Shcherbakivskyi Street. The investigative team and criminal investigation department officers arrived at the scene. Medical personnel provided assistance to the victim, and his condition is currently stable.

According to the chief of the Shevchenkivskyi police department, Ihor Padyuk, law enforcement quickly identified the attacker and arrested him at his residence under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine:

«As part of the ongoing criminal proceedings, we established that a 30-year-old Kyiv resident came to the apartment of his wife, with whom he does not live and has not yet divorced, and saw her with another man. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the 32-year-old victim in the chest».

Currently, investigators under the supervision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office have informed the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – attempted intentional murder. For this particularly serious crime, the man faces up to 15 years in prison.
