Voice actors and motion capture performers in the gaming industry have reached an agreement with studios to safeguard their interests amidst the rise of artificial intelligence and improve working conditions. This was reported by Reuters referencing the SAG-AFTRA union.

Sara Elmaleh, a voice actress known for her work in titles like Final Fantasy XV and Call of Duty: Black Ops III, highlighted that artificial intelligence was central to the new agreement. She emphasized the importance of establishing ethical guidelines for AI usage in the gaming sector.

The agreement introduces new protective measures requiring studios to obtain consent and inform actors about the use of AI to replicate their voices. It also grants actors the right to withdraw their consent during potential strikes.

This agreement was signed with gaming studios including Activision Productions, Blindlight, Disney Character Voices, and others.

Audrey Cooling, a spokesperson for the studios, expressed joy that SAG-AFTRA members ratified the new "Interactive Media Agreement," which includes significant pay raises and industry-leading protections against artificial intelligence.

It is noteworthy that 95.04% of union members supported this agreement. In addition to the ethical principles surrounding AI, it also provides enhanced safety measures for motion capture actors who may face health risks during recording. Medical personnel will be available during high-risk tasks.

Another crucial aspect of the agreement is the salary increase for both motion capture and voice actors, which will rise by 15.17%, followed by 3% increases in November 2025, 2026, and 2027.
