Beware: New Scams in Social Media

image

Fraudsters in social media and messaging platforms are sending messages impersonating banks, offering a "cash reward" for completing a short survey.

This was reported by the State Special Communications Service.

Such messages often contain links to phishing sites styled to mimic official bank branding. Victims clicking on these links complete surveys and are then asked to provide their phone number, SMS code, and PIN.
The collected data is used by fraudsters to link the user’s account to a new device or for online authorization in the bank's app, allowing them to withdraw funds from the victim’s account.

How to avoid falling for fraud?

  •  Always check the website address before entering your card information or passwords – phishing sites can look very convincing.
  •  Trust only official sources! Verify survey and payment information on official institution websites.
  •  Avoid clicking links in messages; find the official site through a search engine instead.

If you have fallen victim to fraud, contact your bank immediately and report the incident to the Cyber Police.
