For the first time in Ukraine, new standards have been established for transporting pets on intercity and international buses.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Government and UAnimals, responding to numerous requests from passengers and pet owners.
What are the rules for transporting pets?
- Small animals (up to 10 kg) – cats, dogs, birds, or rodents – must travel in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be held in hand, placed under the seat, or in a designated area (for this, a neighboring seat must be purchased).
- Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) must be on a leash, muzzled, and on a mat on the floor. A neighboring seat must be purchased. Pets are not allowed to sit on chairs.
- Dogs over 45 kg will travel according to the individual rules of the carrier in specially equipped transport.
- Guide dogs will always travel for free, without the need for a seat purchase, alongside the person they assist. They must be muzzled and on a short leash.
In all cases, a veterinary document is required.
