In Ukraine — five new records set by the GUR, documented thanks to MAGURA drones

Representatives of the Book of Records of Ukraine officially documented five achievements achieved by the Ukrainian military intelligence using MAGURA drones, presenting certificates to the Main Intelligence Directorate.

  • the first in the world sinking of combat ships by drones;
  • the first downing of a military aircraft by a naval drone;
  • the first downing of an aerial target by a naval drone;
  • the largest number of damaged combat ships: from 2023 to 2024, the GUR of Ukraine struck 15 units of the Russian Black Sea Fleet;
  • the greatest number of sunk ships and boats.

The official registration took place at the Museum of Military Intelligence, where a new exhibition dedicated to MAGURA drones was recently opened.

Certificates were handed over to Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the GUR, and to the fighters of the “Group 13” unit, who directly conduct naval operations using drones.

“We have been observing the development and combat use of MAGURA and can confidently say that these achievements are unique. They prove that Ukraine can create innovations even in the most challenging conditions,” — said Andriy Masyuk, a representative of the Book of Records of Ukraine.

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Book of Records and emphasized the high combat effectiveness of MAGURA.

“Every sunk ship, every downed aircraft or helicopter reduces the enemy's capabilities. These are real steps toward our victory. I want to thank Group 13 for their work. Their dedication and professionalism enable us to achieve such results,” — said Kyrylo Budanov.

The commander of the GUR unit “Group 13” with the call sign “Thirteenth” expressed gratitude to Ukrainian engineers for their ingenuity.

“I want to thank the commanders who supported the initiative, the manufacturers for their innovations, and my team for their dedicated and successful work. We are fighting against a resource-rich state, so any support is invaluable. We are sincerely grateful to everyone — especially to the Book of Records for this recognition and trust,” — emphasized the Thirteenth.

The certificate award ceremony was attended by military security expert Mykhailo Honchar.

“MAGURA drones have already set records for combat effectiveness in both water and air. I wish the Main Intelligence Directorate that the next record is underwater, as Russian submarines are eagerly awaiting to meet Ukrainian drones,” — said Mykhailo Honchar.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR, highlighted the strategic significance of the established achievements.

“The established records demonstrate how Ukraine is changing the military history of the world, proving that innovation and courage can triumph over any enemy numbers. We are proud of everyone involved in the creation and use of MAGURA naval drones. Your work is an example for the whole world of how asymmetric responses can be effective and devastating to the aggressor,” — said Andriy Yusov.
