The management of the National Reserve St. Sophia has announced a temporary closure for visitors. The site will not conduct tours.
According to information shared on social media, the reserve will be closed on June 13 (Friday) due to technical work.
The administration adds:
“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
It is known that during the intense missile and drone attacks on June 10, St. Sophia Cathedral, built in the 11th century, sustained damage. The shockwave affected the plaster cornice of the central apse on the eastern facade, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.
Experts from the St. Sophia reserve, along with an investigative group from the Shevchenkivskyi police department, conducted a visual inspection and documented the state of the cathedral.
