The European Union and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are set to support the advancement of the Ukrainian project «eQueue», designed to streamline border crossing.
This was announced by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
The EU aims to expand the eQueue system to include passenger vehicles and integrate it with national registries.
Under the agreements reached, the EU will finance the technical maintenance of the project through the IOM and assist in attracting specialists for its further enhancement and scaling.
As Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach noted, this support will enable the implementation of a plan to improve the system for more predictable border crossings.
Among the planned steps is the integration of «eQueue» with other state registries and ensuring priority passage for specific categories of vehicles.
It is expected that improvements will affect not only the service for trucks and buses but also the pilot project extending to passenger cars.
One of the priorities also includes the installation of automatic monitoring cameras at border checkpoints.
eQueue for drivers: how to register and cross the border without a physical line
«eQueue» is a digital tool that allows carriers to register in an electronic queue and track its movement online, instead of waiting physically at the border.
Currently, the system is mandatory for all trucks and buses leaving Ukraine, and since its launch, it has been used for over 2 million border crossings.
