Swimming Safety in Kyiv: Latest Updates

Despite the swimming season not being opened in Kyiv for safety reasons, the water quality at the beaches remains satisfactory.

This information was provided by the chief sanitary doctor of the capital, Serhiy Chumak, in an interview with 'Ukrinform'.

He stated that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention continues to monitor the water quality in recreational areas.

'We are consistently collecting water samples and analyzing the sand on the beaches. For those who choose to swim, the water currently meets sanitary standards,' Chumak noted.

On May 16, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported on the ongoing enforcement of the decision made by the City Defense Council on May 17, 2023.

According to this decision, the swimming season in Kyiv has not been officially opened, and residents are advised against visiting beaches or crowded areas near the water.

These restrictions have been implemented due to safety concerns amid wartime conditions, as a large number of people on the beaches could hinder access to shelters in case of air alerts.
