In the capital of Ukraine, volunteers rescued a wild wolf that had lived in an apartment for two years. The owners bought the animal online, but eventually decided to surrender it to a shelter.
This was reported by the "Wildlife Rescue Center" and the bear shelter "White Rock".
According to activists, the wolf cub was purchased online, and for the next two years, the sick predator lived within the walls of a city apartment. Ultimately, the owners decided to transfer the animal to a shelter.
At the site, veterinarians sedated the wolf, and animal volunteers moved him into a specialized transport cage and took him to his new home.
"A long road to recovery lies ahead. The wolf is currently undergoing examination and adapting to new conditions. But the most important thing is that he is now safe, and we are confident he will be well cared for," the "Wildlife Rescue Center" stated.
Shelter specialists at "White Rock" revealed that the wolf suffered a bone fracture, which required a metal plate to be installed in one of his legs. Additionally, the predator has other health issues, including a sick stomach and intestines.
"But he is incredible, and we are happy that the owners recognized their mistake and found a wonderful place for the wolf," the shelter staff added.
Earlier, in Donetsk region, rescuers saved a cat that had spent two days trapped under the rubble of an apartment building.
