In Kyiv, with the support of the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City State Administration, a unique photo book titled «Kyiv Through the Lens of Mykhailo Bolotov» has been published. This publication is now available in public libraries across the capital.
The photo book serves as a journey into the past of Kyiv, capturing the essence of the city from the late 19th to early 20th century. It prominently features the works of Mykhailo Bolotov, a photographer who immortalized the disappearing architecture, ancient churches, and the street life of that era in Kyiv. The book also includes photographs by other contributors — both professional and amateur photographers who have captured the essence of Kyiv throughout the years.
Myroslava Smirnova, the director of the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City Administration, stated: «This is a genuine project aimed at preserving historical memory. Mykhailo Bolotov's works convey the spirit of the city with depth and beauty. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this book — editor Olha Duh, the team at the Museum of the History of Kyiv, and everyone who worked on this unique publication».
This photo book represents a significant step in preserving the cultural heritage of the capital and will be a valuable addition to the collections of public libraries in Kyiv.
