Participants ran through the beautiful streets of Krakow, blending the charm of the Polish city with memories of Kyiv.

On May 25, 2025, Kyiv Day, Krakow joined the global charity initiative “Run Under the Chestnuts” for the first time, supporting young patients at the Children’s Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Center of Ukraine’s Ministry of Health. This was reported by the General Consulate of Ukraine in Krakow.

“On this significant day, the residents of Krakow express their unwavering solidarity with the brave citizens of Kyiv, who face daily aggression from the enemy. Despite the ongoing threats, Ukraine's capital remains resilient, and its people show incredible strength. Our charity run in Krakow is not just support for Ukrainian children in need of medical assistance but also a symbol of unity with all those heroically defending their homeland,” the consulate stated.

Since 1993, this event has annually united thousands of people around a common humanitarian goal, demonstrating international solidarity and shared responsibility for Ukrainian children in need.

The General Consul of Ukraine in Krakow, Vyacheslav Voynarovsky, addressed the participants, emphasizing that participating in such significant charity events is a meaningful contribution to Ukraine’s future and a testament to the unbreakable human spirit.

The event included staff from the General Consulate of Ukraine in Krakow, U.S. Consul for Press and Culture Adrian Pratt, the Krakow Waterworks team “Running with Krakowians,” the head of the Krakow branch of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Arthur Bahlyuk, students from the First Ukrainian School in Krakow under the “Unbreakable Ukraine” Foundation, and concerned residents of Krakow.

The organization of the event was made possible by the initiative of Deputy Consul Valentina Kuzmin and young Ukrainian activists in Krakow — Danilo Hnap and Maria Novoselska.

The General Consulate of Ukraine in Krakow expresses sincere gratitude to the event partners for their support and faith in the common cause: Krakow Waterworks, FruitMood (Sofio), RendPacoEco, FableCafe, Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, BarberHub, UAinKrakow, Depiltime.

This event once again demonstrated that together we are strong, together we are the heart of Ukraine. International support and solidarity are crucial for the recovery of Ukraine and for helping the most vulnerable citizens of our nation.

Last year, the “Run Under the Chestnuts” raised 1.5 million hryvnias for the Children's Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Center.
