Weather Anomalies in Kyiv: April Temperature Variations

The average air temperature in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, reached 11.1 degrees Celsius, which is 1.1 degrees above the long-term average. 

This information was provided by the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky.

April in Kyiv turned out to be anomalous: temperature swings and excess precipitation.

According to meteorologists, the lowest temperature was recorded on April 11, when the thermometer dropped to minus 4.1 degrees Celsius, setting a new record low for this date in the past seven years.

The highest temperature was observed on April 23 and 24, when maximum readings reached plus 27.4 degrees Celsius.

The amount of precipitation recorded on Science Avenue was 47 millimeters, exceeding the average monthly norm by 12%.

March in Kyiv was the warmest in the last 144 years.

The previous March in Kyiv set a record for warmth over the entire history of meteorological measurements, which have lasted for 144 years.
