As part of the century-long partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, a new educational initiative called UK-Ukraine School Partnerships has been launched.

This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

UK-Ukraine School Partnerships: A new educational initiative for schools

In April 2025, the UK-Ukraine School Partnerships program commenced, connecting Ukrainian and British educational institutions in long-term projects focused on the theme of "The Joy of Reading".

The primary goal is to promote cultural exchange, enhance language skills, and foster collaboration among students and educators from both countries.

The first participants in the partnership include 15 Ukrainian schools and 15 British schools.

Over the 2025-2026 academic year, a total of 100 educational institutions – 50 from each country – will participate in the program.

The second and third groups of partner schools will begin their activities in the fall of 2025.

Partner schools will work collaboratively on educational projects for at least 4-6 months, with the possibility of extending this period.

They will have access to resources provided by the British Council and the National Literacy Trust of the UK, as well as their own teaching materials.

The Ministry of Education emphasizes that participation in the program will help students and teachers from both countries better understand each other's cultures, actively use English in communication, and integrate reading into the learning process.

Educators will have opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement.

Ukrainian students temporarily residing in the UK will be able to maintain connections with Ukrainian culture and educational environments through this program.

UK-Ukraine School Partnerships is a new initiative funded by the UK Department for Education.

This program is an integral part of the 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the UK and is being implemented in Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science.

Details of the 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the UK

On January 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine and Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the UK signed the agreement on the 100-year partnership in Kyiv.

On that day, Keir Starmer arrived in Ukraine with a promise to ensure the country's security for a century.

The agreement envisages strengthening military cooperation in maritime security, developing scientific and technological partnerships in areas such as healthcare, agri-tech, space, and strengthening cooperation in the energy sector and the production of "green" steel.

On February 4, the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement with the UK to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities within the framework of this century-long partnership.
