A Ukrainian man, who recently lost custody of his two children, unlawfully took them from a school in Los Angeles and crossed the border into Mexico.

According to police, there is a possibility that the man intends to reach Ukraine, reports Fox News.

Man abducts children in the USA and escapes to Mexico

Authorities are searching for 39-year-old Rodion Kolomoets, suspected of kidnapping his own children – 9-year-old Aurora and 7-year-old Grant Kolomoets.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when he took the children from the educational institution without proper authorization.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the suspect Rodion Kolomoets is a Caucasian male with chestnut hair and gray eyes.

The report also states that he is a citizen of Ukraine and likely intends to return home with his children.

On the same day, the suspect was recorded at a border checkpoint in San Ysidro as his Toyota Prius crossed the border between the USA and Mexico.

Currently, the whereabouts of the family remain unknown.

Law enforcement officials reported that the suspect and the children primarily communicate in Russian.

The police are urging anyone with any information about the children or their father’s whereabouts to contact the LAPD.
