image

In March 2025, Ukraine increased its electricity import by 11% compared to February, reaching 272,000 MWh.

According to ExPro, the largest supplier was Hungary, providing 42% of the total imports.

Other supply shares included: 19% from Slovakia, 18% from Poland, 16% from Romania, and the remainder from Moldova.

The growth in imports was recorded across all directions except Slovakia. However, on an annual basis (compared to March 2024), imports decreased by almost 40%.

Additionally, in March, Ukraine doubled its electricity export to 76,300 MWh. This was made possible by increased generation from solar power plants during daylight hours, resulting in a surplus in the energy system.

Reminder:

In February, Ukraine imported 511.8 million cubic meters of natural gas, the highest monthly volume in 1.5 years since September 2023. Compared to January, gas import volumes increased twelvefold.
