On December 5, the Kyiv City Council approved a new development strategy for the city, set to guide its evolution until 2027. This foundational document will outline the priorities for urban development in the coming years, as stated by Mykola Povoroznyk, the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
«Given the challenges posed by the war, it was essential to reassess the priorities, goals, and objectives outlined in the previous Strategy 2025. We recognized the entire scope of difficulties facing the city and identified new opportunities for growth. Despite the ongoing conflict, Kyiv remains a leader among Ukrainian regions due to its vibrant community and economic initiatives», he noted.
A working group was established to update the document, which included over 160 representatives from various sectors: business, education, science, NGOs, and local government. Experts collaboratively defined new developmental priorities for the city in response to contemporary challenges.
The Department of Economy and Investment of the Kyiv City State Administration added that citizens actively contributed to the strategy revision process by submitting their ideas through the city's portal and the Development Platform.
The community expressed its views on crucial areas for future development, focusing on safety, comfort, social protection, accessibility of services, and fostering national identity. All proposed ideas were incorporated into the final version of the strategy.
The main priorities for Kyiv's development until 2027 include enhancing security, community resilience, and quality of life, which encompasses creating a barrier-free environment, economic prosperity, and cultural heritage.
The operational goals of the strategy encompass all aspects of city life, with a particular focus on addressing urgent issues up to 2027.
The updated strategy also emphasizes creating a barrier-free space, social inclusion, and equal opportunities for all residents.
The Department indicates that work is ongoing to prepare an action plan for the implementation of the strategy, which will include specific steps to achieve the defined goals.
