The Danish government has decided to allocate an additional 150 million Danish kroner (20 million euros) to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure in light of increased Russian strikes. This was announced by the Danish embassy in Ukraine on its Facebook page.
"Russia continues to strike at Ukraine's infrastructure; therefore, Denmark is also increasing its support. An additional 150 million Danish kroner will be directed to Ukraine's energy sector to help Ukrainians get through the winter," the message states.
The embassy informed that Denmark's support will include 80 million kroner to the Energy Support Fund, which coordinates the procurement of energy equipment, 30 million kroner through the UN Project Services Office in Ukraine, and 40 million kroner through partners capable of providing emergency assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible.
Additionally, the embassy noted that used equipment from the Asnes power plant in Kalundborg has been transferred to Ukraine. This equipment is highly valuable because some components of older types are either supplied very slowly or are no longer produced at all.
As of January 21, due to the recent attacks, consumers in four regions have been left without electricity; the situation remains challenging in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
