At the ReBuild Ukraine conference, Ukraine signed agreements with the European Investment Bank, securing €75 million in grant assistance for water supply restoration and social housing development.
According to the Ministry of Community Development and Territories, the agreements were finalized during the event in Warsaw.
Of the allocated funds, €25 million is an EU grant that complements the existing loan for water projects, allowing communities to restore water supply and sewage systems, improve water quality, modernize treatment facilities, and strengthen critical infrastructure.
Additionally, €50 million will be directed towards the development of social rental housing. This marks the first major grant to support the implementation of a new model for municipal housing in Ukraine, involving the establishment of a Social Rental Housing Fund, as per the CMU Resolution No. 796.
The agreements were signed with the participation of representatives from the European Commission and the Ukrainian government, including the Ministry of Community Development and Territories.
Moreover, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has reviewed a draft law on the fundamentals of housing policy, which outlines the legal foundations for creating a social housing fund, granting access to certain categories of citizens, such as IDPs and persons with disabilities.
