The Estonian government has announced a commitment of 3.5 million euros for the supply of Starlink systems to Ukraine through an IT coalition with Luxembourg. According to the Ministry of Defense, this funding will be part of the aid package for Ukraine in 2025.
The financing will occur via a collaborative initiative led by Estonia and Luxembourg.
Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stated that Ukraine requires assistance to maintain Starlink connectivity, which provides a significant tactical advantage.
“The capabilities of Starlink are critically important as Ukraine intends to significantly expand its use of drones, which require high-speed internet connections,” he said.
Pevkur further emphasized that Ukraine is fighting for the freedom of all Europe, making technological support essential alongside military aid.
This year, Estonia has provided Ukraine with military assistance amounting to about 0.3% of its GDP, focusing on purchasing military supplies through local companies, training via the Estonian Armed Forces, and enhancing IT capabilities.
