Ukraine has received 73.7 million euros from the EU grant for the development of the euro-track "Sknyliv-Mostyska".
In Uzhhorod, a ceremonial handover of the grant agreement from the EU took place for the Ukrzaliznytsia project "Mostyska-Sknyliv", which was selected under the CEF competition.
The Director-General of the European Commission for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), Magda Kopczynska, officially handed over the agreement to Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba.
The project aims to construct a euro-track in Lviv region, expanding transport connections with the EU.
As Kuleba explained in a comment to Ukrinform, the project involves building a European standard railway gauge of 1435 mm from the Polish-Ukrainian border to Sknyliv near Lviv, creating a direct and compatible connection with TEN-T between Ukraine and the EU.
"From our side, we also need to finance this project from the state budget to complete the construction of 70 km of euro-track by the end of 2027," Kuleba stated.
He added that this will improve connectivity with the EU.
"This is the removal of barriers between Ukraine and the EU, and it will also be a clear continuation of our accession to the EU," Kuleba said.
He also noted that the project’s funding format is 50% from the European Commission and 50% from Ukraine's budget.
Mostyska-Sknyliv is the first of four projects planned under the overall project "Euro-Track Mostyska - Lviv".

As a reminder, on September 5, the euro-track Uzhhorod-Chop, spanning 22 kilometers, was opened in Transcarpathia. This allows for direct passenger trains between Ukraine and EU countries, including Budapest, Vienna, and Bratislava, without transfers, and reduces travel time.
