The European Investment Bank has allocated 46.1 million euros to Ukraine for four projects aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The funds will be used for the reconstruction of water supply and drainage systems, as well as for improving energy efficiency in public buildings. Additionally, plans include the purchase of new public transport for Kiev, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Uzhhorod, Ternopil, Kamyanske, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk.
In particular, 13.3 million euros have been allocated for municipal infrastructure development programs, with another 14.7 million euros designated for improving transportation systems in cities. For energy efficiency improvements, 4.8 million euros have been earmarked.
As of now, the EIB has already invested over 168 million euros in Ukraine to support these initiatives. The largest portion of funding, specifically 121.1 million euros, has been dedicated to renewing public transport.
Overall, the EIB's loan portfolio in Ukraine consists of 27 projects with a total value of 4.7 billion euros, financing the restoration of critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges.
As noted by Deputy Finance Minister Olga Zikova, this support is extremely important for Ukraine, especially when the government is directing all internal resources towards security and defense needs.
