A new terminal for grain handling is scheduled to be opened at Port "Pivdenny" in 2026, with an annual capacity of 5 million tons.
This is reported by Latifundist.com.
The "Epitsentr" group of companies and the family of MP Anatoliy Urban'skiy plan to construct a grain handling terminal in Port "Pivdenny". According to the project, the expected cargo turnover will be 5 million tons per year, with a total storage capacity of 250,000 tons.
In 2025, "Casablanca Shipping Limited" (Cyprus), founded by "Epitsentr K", acquired 32.61% of "Promtekhinnovatsiya" (Odesa). Another 16.48% is owned by Ihor Urban'skiy, while Kateryna and Denys Urban'skiy hold 25.46% each.
According to the project, "Promtekhinnovatsiya" is renting land in the waters of Port "Pivdenny" near the local road T1606. The total land area for construction is approximately 32 hectares.
This area is sufficient for building a unloading station for railcars and trucks, after which the grain will be transported to the silos and terminal.
Plans also include constructing a railway station with a capacity of up to 3 million tons per year, capable of processing up to five freight trains daily. The land area for this station will be 10 hectares.
The rail unloading station is expected to have a capacity of 2000 tons per hour, while the truck unloading station will handle 1000 tons per hour.
A conveyor gallery measuring 1600 meters long and capable of 1200 tons per hour will connect the unloading station with the main elevators. The grain will be stored in approximately 50 silos with a total capacity of 250,000 tons located on a 10-hectare area.
The project also includes the construction of a pier up to 350 meters long and 16 meters deep. Agricultural products will be handled by two cranes with a capacity of 1500 tons per hour.
According to port officials familiar with the construction progress, the project is being successfully implemented, and the terminal is set to launch in 2026 despite technical challenges.
The idea of building such a terminal represents a strong alliance between a large agribusiness with its own grain and a family of entrepreneurs with access to the marine area but without their own agricultural production.
The agricultural assets of the largest non-food retailer in the country, "Epitsentr K", are consolidated under the "Epitsentr Agro" network, which has been actively developing since 2015. During this time, the holding has increased its land bank to 170,000 hectares and its elevator capacity to 2 million tons.
