In 2024, Ukraine ranked third in the world for honey export volumes, exporting 85.8 thousand tons.
This information is provided by the Ukrainian Club of Agricultural Business (UCAB).
Among the five largest honey exporters in the world for 2024, China leads with 169.6 thousand tons, followed by India with 94.8 thousand tons and Ukraine with 85.8 thousand tons. Argentina with 78.1 thousand tons and Vietnam with 48.2 thousand tons also made the list.
"The cancellation of tariffs and fees on Ukrainian exports by the European Union has provided profitable opportunities for Ukrainian beekeepers," experts explained.
Last year, the largest buyers of Ukrainian honey were Germany, which imported 18.9 thousand tons, the USA - 12.1 thousand tons, Poland - 9.7 thousand tons, France - 9.6 thousand tons, and Belgium - 7.1 thousand tons.
Moreover, Ukrainian honey also reached markets in Turkey, the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Qatar, and Jordan.
However, in 2025, the reintroduction of export quotas poses additional challenges for honey exports to the EU.
Analysts noted that while the quotas have increased compared to previous years, they still do not cover Ukraine's entire export potential. Nevertheless, this move is significant and helps domestic producers remain competitive in the European market, which is crucial for Ukrainian honey sales.
