Decline in Agriculture Exports from Ukraine in April

In April Ukraine exported 4.1 million tons of agricultural products, which is 23.4% lower than in March.

This is reported by the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.

“This trend of declining exports is typical for the current season. Most of the produced goods have already been exported, and only minor volumes remain,” the association explained.

According to UKAB, nearly all product groups showed a decline in export volumes in April. The only exception is vegetable oils, whose exports increased. This is tied to an unusual situation in the Ukrainian sunflower oil market, where production has been stretched out over time this year, the association noted.

The structure of agricultural exports in April was as follows:

  • grains: 2.4 million tons (corn – 65%, wheat – 32%, barley – 2%). Decrease from the previous month: -33%;
  • oilseeds – 421.2 thousand tons (soybeans – 78%, rapeseed – 20%, flax – 1%). Decrease: -3%;
  • vegetable oils – 525.8 thousand tons (sunflower oil – 91% and soybean oil – 9%). Increase: +6%;
  • meals after oil extraction – 423.0 thousand tons (sunflower – 73%, soybean – 27%). Decrease: -14%;
  • other types of agro-industrial products – 357.0 thousand tons. Decrease: -2%.
