On April 18, the government of Ukraine announced the allocation of 830 million UAH for the establishment of shelters in schools.
This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, via his Telegram channel.
“These funds will support ongoing efforts to equip shelters and ensure safe conditions in educational institutions. 15 communities and the regional budgets of Kherson, Zaporizhia, and Khmelnytskyi will receive funding,” wrote Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in his post.
According to Shmyhal, the government has allocated a record 14 billion UAH for school shelters over the past two years.

In 2024, Kyiv allocated 2.4 billion UAH for improving shelters, enhancing fire safety in schools, preparing them for winter, and creating educational centers for the subject “Defense of Ukraine.”
