On April 10, the film "MUR. You [Romance]" will premiere in Ukrainian cinemas. More than 3,500 tickets for the film adaptation of the musical about poets and writers of the Shot Renaissance have been sold just ten days before its release.
This was reported by the film's team through UP.Culture.
"The idea of early ticket sales isn't new and has long been used by both Ukrainian projects and Hollywood blockbusters. Yet, only a few have started with such impressive presales as "MUR. You [Romance]"", emphasized the head of film distribution at FILM.UA Nadiya Korotushka.
The team also thanked all cinemas that agreed to open presales for the film.
"Considering the overwhelming success of the performance during the band's 2024 tour, we knew there were many fans who had not seen it, so we happily announced the release and opened ticket sales well ahead of the premiere date", shared the marketing director of the Multiplex cinema chain Iryna Kholod.
The film depicts events at the Kharkiv house of "Word" and guides viewers through the journey of Pavlo Tychyna. In each scene, viewers are introduced to the inner worlds of the characters: from desperate love to the struggle with their own fears and compromises. Events from a century ago intertwine with modernity and the full-scale war against Russia.
The musical "You [Romance]" premiered in 2024 and gained significant popularity, with around 60,000 people attending its tour across Ukraine. Later, the MUR project decided to approach FILM.UA for filming the stage performance, resulting in the film "MUR. You [Romance] in cinema".
The film presents the performance in its theatrical form, emphasizing cinematic dynamics: the use of close-ups, angle changes, and focus on details. The editing adds new rhythms while preserving the authenticity of the live performance.
The musical team will also embark on a pre-premiere tour across Ukraine to meet with viewers of the film version. The tour will cover 8 cities: Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lutsk, Kyiv, and Cherkasy.
