The presentation of the new album Postponed Dreams by the Formula duo, featuring talented musicians Tetiana Pavliuchuk-Tyszkievich (piano) and Nazar Stets (double bass), will take place on February 12 at 18:00 at the Goethe Institut in Kyiv (Lavrska St., 16 L).

This event is significant for Ukraine, as it marks the first professional album of music for double bass and piano since independence.

Until now, academic music for double bass has not been released by Ukrainian musicians on digital media. The creation of this disk was made possible through the Per Forma grant program from Kyiv Contemporary Music Days, Fonds Podiumkunsten, and the Ministry of Culture of the Netherlands.

What does the album Postponed Dreams represent?

Tetiana Pavliuchuk-Tyszkievich: The album features contemporary works specifically written or adapted for our duo. Our collaboration with composers whose music is included in the album is essential. It includes pieces from composers from Ukraine, Hungary, and Argentina, such as Sonata e moll by Vilmos Montag, Elegy by Zoltan Almasi, and others.

The title Postponed Dreams carries a deep meaning.

Nazar Stets: For us, this album symbolizes resilience during the war, as the concept of dreams has faded for many Ukrainians. Life has changed, but we decided not to postpone our dreams any longer.

At a concert in Vere Music Fund, Nazar expressed concern about the popularity of double bass among students.

Nazar Stets: There are very few new names in double bass music in Ukraine. Quality recordings and new repertoire are necessary for the development of the instrument.

I believe in the potential of double bass in contemporary music as the demand for skilled performers is increasing.

The goal of our album is to promote chamber music and the double bass as an essential instrument.

About your charitable activities.

Tetiana Pavliuchuk-Tyszkievich: We established the Music Unites fund to support the military and those affected. Our concerts showcase the high level of Ukrainian music and share our culture with the world.
