The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new initiative to create a Museum Collection Registry, marking a significant step in the preservation and accounting of cultural artifacts. This digital platform will consolidate all data regarding state-owned museum items, enabling their management and protection.
"Each museum will have access to a specialized interface, providing the ability to monitor and inventory museum treasures both within Ukraine and abroad. The registry will also assist in the recovery of stolen artifacts and grant access to information on museum collections. This is a crucial project for safeguarding our cultural heritage," emphasized Tatyana Berezhna, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.
The resolution will serve as a foundation for organizing the processes related to the accounting, storage, and protection of museum items in Ukraine.
The registry will allow:

  • the digital recording of museum exhibits;
  • the monitoring of their movement;
  • the quick response to cases of loss or theft;
  • the creation of a database for the recovery of lost items;
  • the analysis of the condition of collections.

The experimental project will last up to two years, during which various technical solutions will be tested and user groups identified.
The establishment of the Registry signifies a new phase in the preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage.
