The film produced by the Ukrainian service of "Radio Liberty" about the horrific events in Bucha during the occupation has received a gold award at the New York Festivals 2025.
It won in the "Human Rights" category, as reported by "Radio Liberty".
The documentary titled "Bucha: The Murder of Defender Oleksii Pobihai" is a continuation of journalist Dmytro Zhula's investigation into the mass killings in Bucha in March 2022.
The film examines the circumstances of the shootings and names the Russian military personnel who may be linked to the execution of local defender Oleksii Pobihai.
The winners were announced on the evening of May 22 in New York during the virtual gala event Storytellers.
This year’s winners in various categories included organizations such as Al Jazeera English, Voice of America, ABCTV, PBS, BBC, Deutsche Welle, and others.
It's worth noting that at the end of March 2025, the film by Ukrainian director Myroslav Chernov titled "2000 Meters to Andriivka" also received an award at the CPH:DOX documentary film festival in Denmark.
