The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, officially received the credentials of the new Portuguese ambassador, marking the start of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
According to "European Truth", this information was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
On April 10, Thursday, Zelensky welcomed the credentials of Luis Manuel Ribeiro Cabasu, who is now the new ambassador of Portugal in Ukraine, succeeding Antonio Alves Machado. Previously, he served as the ambassador in Poland.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for Portugal's support and the temporary protection provided to Ukrainians.
"The President invited Portugal to engage in humanitarian initiatives and to continue cooperation in areas that ensure security for Ukraine and the entire European continent," the statement noted.
It is worth mentioning that on April 7, Zelensky signed a series of decrees regarding the appointment of ambassadors. Notably, for the first time since 2022, the position of ambassador to Norway is no longer vacant. There was also a change in the ambassador to Finland.
Former Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin has been appointed as the ambassador to the Netherlands, while former ambassador to Germany and Brazil, Andriy Melnyk, has become the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN.
