The opening of the international crossing “Velika Palad – Nodhgodos” will take place with the participation of high-ranking officials from Ukraine and Hungary, as stated by the Consul General of Hungary, József Bacskaí, during a meeting with the Acting Head of Zakarpattia Customs, Illia Nizhnikov.

The diplomat noted that the operation of this checkpoint would enhance cross-border and cultural ties, positively impacting Ukraine's euro-integration efforts.

Nizhnikov informed the Hungarian Consul that the customs service has implemented a systematic and comprehensive approach to combat smuggling and corruption.

They also discussed the launch of an industrial park in the town of Batyovo and the village of Batrad, where plywood and wooden panels will soon be produced for export to EU countries via Hungary, leading to increased traffic at the vehicle checkpoints designed for freight transport.

Nizhnikov also emphasized that due to the signed Memorandum between the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Customs and Financial Guard of Hungary, all checkpoints in this section of the border operate smoothly and rhythmically.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain active communication, promptly address issues, and seek solutions.
