Hope for Trade Resolution

The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, expressed hope that the trade conflict between the United States and the European Union will be resolved through prompt negotiations.

He shared this view in an interview with Lithuanian broadcaster LRT, as reported by "European Truth".

Nauseda noted that "this economic tension, if one can call it that, will end with quick dialogue aimed at minimizing the negative impacts".

"I have repeatedly stated that there are no winners in this conflict, regardless of who initiated it. This has been proven throughout history, and it always ends with the same results," the Lithuanian leader emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that amidst increasing tensions in trade between the USA and the EU, on Tuesday, March 25, in Washington, the head of the EU Trade Representation, Maros Sefcovic, will meet with his American counterparts – US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jameson Greer.

Earlier in March, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imported into the USA from around the world.

In response, the European Commission announced on March 12 that it would introduce tariffs on iconic American products, such as Harley-Davidson motorcycles, jeans, and bourbon.

When the next day, Trump threatened to impose 200% tariffs on all "wines, champagne, and alcoholic beverages" from France and other EU countries, the European Commission decided to postpone countermeasures until mid-April.
