USAID Operations Halted: Implications for Ukraine

The website of the U.S. Agency for International Development, which focuses on non-military assistance to other countries, ceased operations on February 1.

This information is confirmed on the agency's webpage.

When attempting to access the site, users encounter an error. It stopped functioning on Saturday, February 1.

On January 25, 2025, the U.S. announced a suspension of all non-military international aid for 90 days. At that time, a USAID representative stated that staff responsible for projects in Ukraine were instructed to halt all operations.

Two Reuters sources familiar with the discussions reported on January 31 that the Trump administration is seeking to limit the agency's independence and place it under the control of the U.S. State Department.

Note:

The suspension of USAID funding programs will negatively impact Ukraine's agricultural sector, prompting the government to seek solutions and alternative funding sources.
