On the evening of December 3, 2025, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake was recorded near the western coast of England, felt by local residents. This was reported by SkyNews.
The tremors were detected at 11:23 PM in the bay near Lancaster, in the northern part of Lancashire, and were also felt in neighboring Cumbria. Preliminary reports indicate that the epicenter was located at a depth of 3 km.
Many individuals took to social media to share that they were awakened by a slight shaking of their homes.
Britain is not known for seismic activity; however, it experiences 200-300 minor earthquakes annually, about 90% of which go unnoticed by people and cause no damage.
In November, an earthquake occurred in northern Netherlands, linked to gas extraction, and a significant quake also struck Cyprus.
