The United States military has killed four individuals during a strike against a drug trafficking boat in the eastern Pacific Ocean. This information was shared by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on the social platform X.
According to him, the vessel was involved in illegal drug smuggling, traveling along a well-known narcotics route and carrying drugs onboard.
The Secretary released a 22-second video showing the boat exploding in international waters.
This strike occurred following US attacks earlier in the week, which resulted in the deaths of 14 people in the region, as reported by DW.
With this latest strike, the total number of fatalities from Washington's anti-drug campaign has risen to at least 62.
Additionally, yesterday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the interception of three aircraft allegedly used for drug trafficking.
There is a significant buildup of US military forces near Venezuela, referred to by the Americans as an anti-drug operation. This includes seven US Navy warships, F-35 stealth aircraft, and the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.
Caracas is concerned that this could be a cover for military actions aimed at ousting Maduro.
