Someone has removed the Ukrainian flag from the entrance of the honorary consulate of Ukraine in Przemyśl (Poland). This was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.
In his social media, the ambassador shared a photo of the consulate entrance, showing only the Polish flag left in place.
"The wave of anti-Ukrainian hate in social media has once again led to the removal of the Ukrainian flag from the honorary consulate in Przemyśl. This is at least the fifth act of flag desecration at this location this year," stated Bodnar.
"I publicly and through diplomatic channels call on the Polish police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland to take appropriate measures to find the offenders and hold them accountable," he added.
He noted that Polish law provides for up to one year of imprisonment for flag desecration.
In September, a cross was cut from a Ukrainian church in Poland, and one suspect was arrested shortly after.
Last week, during a match between Shakhtar and Warsaw's Legia in Krakow, Polish fans unfurled a banner reading "We remember Volhynia"; the ambassador described this as a provocation.
