Explosion in Bucharest Apartment Building: Three Dead and Many Injured

On Friday, a devastating explosion rocked a residential building in Romania's capital, claiming the lives of three people and injuring at least 13 others. This was reported by The WP.
According to local emergency services, the blast affected the fifth and sixth floors of the eight-story building. Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the scene, including 11 fire trucks and four intensive care teams.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, but authorities have stated that gas supply in the area was shut off for safety reasons.
The Romanian Ministry of Health confirmed that the victims suffered serious injuries and burns. Initially, two fatalities were reported, but later, one more victim was found under the debris on the sixth floor. At least 13 individuals were taken to hospitals.
All residents were evacuated, and rescuers conducted searches to locate anyone who might be trapped under the rubble. Students and faculty from a nearby educational institution were also evacuated.
Footage released by emergency services showed the facades of corner apartments on two floors severely damaged, with windows blown out in neighboring units. Debris was scattered across the street.
«Another adjacent residential building was also affected, with detached facade elements discovered,» emergency services stated.
