A chaotic shooting incident occurred in Sydney, Australia, where a 60-year-old man opened fire on pedestrians and vehicles, injuring 20 individuals. CBS News reports, citing the New South Wales police, that the event took place on Sunday evening.
Acting Police Commissioner Stephen Perry stated that the suspect fired between 50 and 100 shots from 7:45 PM to 9:30 PM in the Croydon Park area.
A large police presence surrounded the area and blocked off streets before arresting the suspect. Two rifles were seized during the operation.
One man is in critical condition due to a gunshot wound, while 19 others were injured by shrapnel and other debris, with several taken to the hospital.
The suspect was also hospitalized for injuries sustained during the arrest. No charges have yet been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
