On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred near the resort island of Bali, Indonesia, where a ferry carrying 65 people sank. Rescue teams are currently searching for 43 individuals who have gone missing.

According to local sources, the ferry sank approximately half an hour after departing from the Ketapang port, heading towards Gilimanuk on Bali, which is 50 kilometers away.

There were 53 passengers and 12 crew members on board, along with 22 vehicles, including 14 trucks.

Reports indicate that two bodies have been recovered, and 20 people have been rescued, many of whom were unconscious after drifting in the turbulent waters for hours.

Since Wednesday evening, nine boats, including two tugs and two inflatable boats, have been engaged in the search, battling waves up to 2 meters high in the dark.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of ferry disasters in Indonesia, an archipelago with over 17,000 islands where ferries are commonly used for transportation and safety regulations are not always observed.
