Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that at least six of the injured are in critical condition. Local media reports indicated a significant number of tourists were on the bridge when it unexpectedly fell.
Fadnavis also mentioned that six individuals have been rescued. An intense search operation is ongoing, as there are concerns that some people may have been swept away by the river's current.
The incident took place in the Kundamala area of Pune district. Heavy rains had fallen in the region over the past few days, causing local rivers to overflow. However, it was noted that there was no rain at the time of the bridge's collapse.
The causes of the disaster are currently being investigated. Emergency and rescue services are working at the scene.
