Tesla's Component Supply Resumption from China

Elon Musk's company, Tesla, is preparing to restart the import of components from China by the end of May. This is made possible after agreements between Washington and Beijing to lift most tariffs.

This information comes from Reuters.

According to the publication, the situation can still change as the "Trump administration remains unpredictable".

In April, Tesla suspended supplies after President Donald Trump raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 145%, jeopardizing the launch of two new models — Cybercab and Semi.

Research production is scheduled for October, while mass production is set for 2026. Cybercab will be manufactured in Texas, while the electric truck Semi will be produced in Nevada.

The company is also seeking approval to launch a robotaxi without a steering wheel and pedals. Tesla promises to keep their cost below $30,000.

Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, previously stated: "I insisted on lowering tariffs before Trump, but the final decision rests with the U.S. president".

CFO Vaibhav Taneja added that tariffs harm investments: "Tesla has to import equipment from outside the U.S., including from China, to expand domestic production".
