Peace Talks on Ukraine Cancelled

The scheduled peace discussions in London, led by UK Foreign Secretary David Lemming, will not take place.

This has been confirmed by the British Foreign Office, as reported by The Guardian.

In a statement, the Foreign Office mentioned that "today's meeting of foreign ministers regarding peace talks in Ukraine is postponed. Negotiations at the official level will continue, but they will be closed to the media".

Participating in the talks were supposed to be the heads of the foreign ministries from the USA, UK, France, Germany, and Ukraine.

It was announced the day before that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio would not attend. Instead, Special Envoy Keith Kellogg will be present.

Later, media reports indicated that the foreign ministers of France and Germany might also cancel their trips to London.

Meanwhile, Sky News reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is expected to be in the British capital for a bilateral meeting with David Lemming.

The downgrading of the diplomatic level of the talks occurs amid increasing pressure from US President Donald Trump and his team on Kyiv and Moscow to achieve a ceasefire.

The "peace proposal" from the USA to be discussed in London includes the recognition of Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, which was rejected by Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday.

Last week, the Trump administration provided Ukraine with a one-page document presented as the "final proposal" for peace settlement, with key points detailed in this news.
