Since the beginning of October 18, there have been 74 clashes reported between the Ukrainian defense forces and Russian military, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, two confrontations occurred. Additionally, Russian forces launched seven airstrikes, dropping 11 guided bombs, and conducted 88 shellings on Ukrainian military positions and settlements, three of which involved multiple rocket launch systems.

“In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to breach the Ukrainian defenses six times near Stepover Novoselivka and in the direction of Pishchane. In the Lyman direction, there was one attack near Novy Mir,” the Ukrainian command reported.

Meanwhile, the General Staff reported that in the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces made two attempts to breach the defenses in the area of Orikhovo-Vasylivka.

“In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian invaders made 31 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Myrolyubivka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Lisivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Kotliarivka. Defense forces have repelled all enemy attacks,” the operational report states.

According to British intelligence, Russian troops likely captured approximately 250 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in September 2025, a significant decrease from about 465 square kilometers captured in August 2025. This follows a moderate monthly decline in the area captured from June to August 2025.
