The Ukrainian military has successfully neutralized 283 Russian drones and 5 guided X-59 missiles. This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via Telegram.
On the night of October 16 (starting from 8:00 PM on October 15), the enemy launched a combined strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure using attack drones and both air-launched and ground-based missiles. The air defense forces recorded a total of 357 aerial threats – 37 missiles (28 of which were ballistic) and 320 UAVs:
- 320 attack UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types (other types of drones) from the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia; about 200 of these are “Shaheds”;
- 2 air-launched ballistic missiles X-47M2 “Kinzhal” from the airspace of the Ryazan region – Russia;
- 26 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KH-23 (launch areas: temporarily occupied Crimea; Kursk, Voronezh regions – Russia);
- 2 cruise missiles Iskander-K (launch areas: temporarily occupied Crimea; Rostov region – Russia);
- 7 guided aviation missiles X-59.
The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 10:00, the air defense has shot down/neutralized 288 aerial targets:
- 283 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types;
- 5 guided aviation missiles X-59.
Additionally, as of 10:00, 18 enemy missiles have been geographically lost, and information is being updated. Currently, 14 missiles and 37 attack UAVs have been confirmed directly hit at 14 locations, with wreckage falling at 2 locations.
The primary areas targeted were Poltava and Kharkiv regions. The attack continues, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please follow safety guidelines!
