Defense Forces Intercept Drones and Missiles

The air defense forces neutralized 386 drones and 27 missiles launched by Russian invaders against Ukraine on the evening of September 9.

This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine via Telegram. 

Starting at 5:00 PM on September 9, the Russians attacked Ukraine with strike drones and missiles from land, air, and sea bases.

In total, the radio-technical troops of the Air Force accompanied 458 aerial threats:

  • 415 strike drones of the types Shahed, "Gerbera" and others from directions including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF), and Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea), with over 250 of them being Shahed drones;
  • 42 cruise/aircraft missiles X-101 / "Kalibr" / X-59 (69) from the Saratov region and the Black Sea area;
  • one ballistic missile "Iskander-M/KN-23" from the Voronezh region.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian defense forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 AM on September 10, the air defense forces shot down/ suppressed 413 aerial targets:

  • 386 drones of the types Shahed, "Gerbera", and others;
  • 27 cruise/aircraft missiles X-101 / "Kalibr" / X-59 (69).

Preliminary reports indicate 16 missiles and 21 strike drones hit 17 locations.

At least eight enemy drones crossed the state border of Ukraine towards the Republic of Poland.
