Russian forces targeted Red Cross volunteers in Kherson, damaging a vehicle used for evacuation efforts.
The organization announced this on their Facebook page.
On August 9, around 10:00 PM, Russian troops initiated heavy artillery fire on Kherson, focusing their attack on the "Ostriv" neighborhood, where a mass evacuation of residents is ongoing.
At approximately 11:10 PM, a new attack occurred near the location of the Ukrainian Red Cross rapid response team in Kherson region.
The attack resulted in damage to a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle, which volunteers utilize for evacuating individuals and delivering humanitarian aid in combat zones.
A Volkswagen Transporter ambulance was also parked nearby and sustained damage to its wheel from debris.
Another group of volunteers was sheltering at the time, so no injuries were reported.
The organization emphasized its strong condemnation of attacks on civilian infrastructure and vehicles clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem, as such actions constitute a direct violation of international humanitarian law.
