The city of Kyiv is initiating a comprehensive program named “Sky Shield” aimed at safeguarding against enemy drones and ensuring the city's security from aerial attacks.

This announcement was made by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko.

How the “Sky Shield” System Will Protect Kyiv

According to Tkachenko, additional funds are being allocated to implement the large-scale “Sky Shield” project, which focuses on securing the airspace using domestic interceptor drones. A budget of 260 million hryvnias has been set aside for establishing an efficient threat response system.

A training center will be established for operators, where specialists will receive instruction on managing interceptor drones. Additionally, new mobile units will be formed to provide security in Kyiv and its outskirts.

The “Sky Shield” system will operate in close coordination with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other defense forces.

“During the pilot phase of the project, “Sky Shield” successfully intercepted nearly 550 enemy drones”, emphasized Tkachenko.

The launch of this comprehensive system aims to significantly bolster Kyiv's defenses against ongoing drone threats.
