During the exchange of fallen soldiers' bodies between Ukraine and Russia, it was discovered that some of the individuals transferred carried Russian passports as well as those from other nations. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with journalists.
«It has been confirmed that 20 bodies transferred to us as Ukrainian soldiers are, in fact, Russian. Among them is an Israeli mercenary who fought on their side. This is corroborated by Israeli documents. The Russian side claimed these were only Ukrainians, but that turned out to be false,» – the President noted.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that such occurrences are not isolated incidents, suggesting that Russia is deliberately trying to showcase a larger number of alleged fallen Ukrainian fighters.
«We certainly want to bring all our heroes home, but we do not wish to accept Russian bodies just for the sake of numbers,» – he added.
The President also mentioned that Ukraine is ready to return the bodies of Russian soldiers, but there has been no constructive response from Russia regarding this proposal.
