In Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, search operations have concluded in a partially destroyed nine-story building following a Russian attack on June 17.
"The search and rescue operation lasted over 39 hours. Today at 19:20, rescuers completed their work. Structural debris is still being cleared. Unfortunately, 23 bodies have been recovered from the rubble. In total, 28 people lost their lives in the capital due to the Russian shelling on June 17, and more than 140 were injured," stated Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
More than 400 State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers and over 200 units of equipment were involved in the response. Specialized rescue and engineering equipment, drones, and search dogs were utilized.
Rescuers managed to save 2 individuals from the debris, while approximately 50 others were freed from their apartments and entrances.
Later, the Kyiv City State Administration reported that in one of the buildings in the Solomianskyi district that was damaged during the enemy attack on June 17, internal structural collapses occurred.
Specifically, a span collapsed on the stairs between the upper floors of a five-story building. There were no casualties. Rescuers evacuated 5 individuals.
